HRH Princess Basma launched Beit al Bawadi in 1996. The Beit al Bawadi ceramics project which makes and markets hand-crafted ceramics was set up by the not-for-profit Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD).

All of the ceramic designs draw on the cultural heritage of the region for inspiration.

Through Beit al Bawadi, JOHUD has created productive and rewarding employment for more than sixty people, including persons with special needs and has generated funds to invest in development projects.
