Princess Basma plays an active human advocacy role through various forums and contributes to global strategies on health, education, population, the environment and the advancement of women.

Princess Basma has also played an active role in promoting the work of many other international organizations, by supporting their contribution to the development process and in highlighting the need to advance sustainable human development and social equity.

Princess Basma has been appointed as an Honorary Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); as well as Special Envoy for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
