Princess Basma patronized the Ministry of Education celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of Jordan’s independence. The event was held at the Princess Basma Scout Camp in Dibeen.
In her speech, Princess Basma emphasized that independence should be understood as an ongoing national responsibility rather than just a historical milestone. She highlighted the importance of sustaining national values such as loyalty, commitment, and active contribution to development. She also noted Jordan’s ability to transform challenges into opportunities while maintaining moderation, stability, and constructive engagement at both national and community levels.
The Princess further noted that the scouting movement reflects the values of independence by helping to shape young people’s character through discipline, belonging, volunteerism, and perseverance. She stressed the Ministry of Education’s role in reinforcing these principles through schooling, and highlighted Boy Scouts and Girl Guides as key partners in promoting civic awareness, teamwork, responsibility, and community service alongside formal education.
