Princess Basma visited the northeastern governorate of Mafraq to present the National Goodwill Campaign’s financial assistance to families and income-generating projects.
Princess Basma who is the President of the Goodwill Campaign’s higher committee presented assistance which included scholarships for 40 university students from underprivileged families, support to 16 projects in local charities, funds for income-generating projects for 24 families and emergency aid to 150 families.

Addressing Mafraq residents, the Princess congratulated them on the 65th anniversary of the Kingdom’s independence, noting that the occasion is “an opportunity to think about what we should offer to our country” not only about “what our country can offer us”.
Her Royal Highness highlighted the need to focus on the “main long-term goal” of “keeping our home country safe, strong and prosperous”, voicing hope that Jordanians celebrate another 65 years of independence and beyond.

Princess Basma visited the homes of three underprivileged families in Mafraq and listened to the difficulties they face. The Princess instructed members of the National Goodwill Campaign to provide immediate assistance to the families by renovating their homes, providing furniture and supplying them with any required medical assistance.

Members of the women’s committee at the Princess Basma Community Development Centre in Mafraq briefed the Princess on their projects and initiatives implemented to support widows, orphans, foreign students and other members of the Mafraq community.
The Princess commended the committee’s initiatives, noting that their work embodies “the basic elements of development”.
