Moscow Piano Trio

By Jumana Bississo AMMAN - Give your senses a treat with the sounds of one of Russia′sleading chamber ensembles - the Moscow Piano Trio -  in concert for the first time in the Kingdom.

 

A gala dinner and concert - to be held under thepatronage of HRH Princess Basma -  isslated to introduce local audiences to the trio. Pianist Alexander Bonduriansky, violinist Vladamir Ivanov and cellistMikhail Utkin are professors at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory(MSTC).  The event -  organised by theArab Alliance of Women in Music and UNESCO Amman in cooperation with Freddy For Music -  will be held at the Grand Hyatt Amman on March 16, and will take listeners on amusical journey with compositions by Joseph Haydn, Johannes Brahms andPeter Tchaikovsky.

 

Another performance of Hadyn′s Trio in C Major, BrahmsTrio in C Minor op. 101 and Tchaikovsky′s Trio in A Minor op. 50,"In the Memory of a Great Artist" will be held at Al Hana Hall at theMovenpick Dead Sea Spa and Resort three days later on March 19.

 

Born in 1945 in Kherson, Ukraine,Bonduriansky is a founding member of the MoscowPiano Trio. He graduated from the Chisinau Conservatory and completed his musical training at the Moscow conservatory.

 

Ivanov was born in Moscow in1948 and graduated from MSTC. He was awarded first prize in 1972 in the JS Bach Competition in Leipzig and won the gold medal at the Bulgarian Music Competition in 1974.He is currently a professor at MSTC and has been with the trio since1976.

 

Utkin was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1952and has been a member of the trio since 1974. He graduated from MSTC and wonsecond place in the International String Quartet Competition in Belgium.

 

The Moscow Piano Trio, founded in 1968 at the MSTC, hasbecome one of the leading chamber ensembles in Russia. Itsmembers are soloists of the Moscow State Philharmonic and teach at the conservatory.

 

One of the trio′s first successes was in 1969 at theInternational Competition in Munichand in 1994 all three members of the trio were awarded Russia′s highest cultural honorary title of "Artists of thePeople of Russia." The gala dinner/concert at the Grand Hyatt AmmanBallroom will be held at 8:00pmon March 16, while the second performance is set for 7:30pm at the Movenpick Dead SeaSpa and Resort on March 19
