AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Goodwill Campaign’s higher committee, on Monday visited several hospitals and checked on the condition of patients being treated at the expense of the campaign.

Princess Basma met with medical personnel supervising the patients and listened to a briefing about the surgeries they underwent, where doctors reported that all of the surgeries were successful, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Under the campaign, implemented by the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), 36 patients from underprivileged families underwent surgeries at Al Khalidi Hospital and Medical Centre as well as Abdulhadi General Hospital and Shami Eye Centre, under a partnership framework between the campaign and private medical institutions.

The Princess expressed her pride in the partnerships among national institutions, which aim at offering “qualitative and developed” medical services to patients of the campaign.

She said that what the campaign and medical institutions present to patients constitute a “qualitative leap” in their lives and contribute to alleviating their suffering. The Princess commended the Kingdom’s private medical sector, which has played a role in making Jordan a regional medical destination.

Managers of Al Khalidi Hospital and Medical Centre; Walid Khalidi, Abdulhadi General Hospital; Samer Abdulhadi and Shami Eye Centre; Jamil Talat, expressed their pride in the partnership with the campaign and stressed their keenness to continue cooperation with the campaign and treat patients.

Amer Oshoush, a resident of the Jordan Valley, was one of the patients who underwent surgeries and was visited by Princess Basma. Oshoush suffered from a spinal disc herniation between the fourth and fifth spines.

Oshoush contacted stakeholders at the campaign’s medical programme, who referred him to specialists that decided surgery was the best option.

The patient underwent surgery on Thursday at Abdulhadi General Hospital and Medical Centre.

Princess Basma’s visit included signing a cooperation agreement between the campaign and Al Khalidi Hospital and Medical Centre to institutionalise the partnership.
